June 6, 2006 | Salama! (Makua for Hello!)
Well, we are back in our beloved Pemba, and it is so nice to be home. We arrived back in Mozambique on the 17th of May and spent one week in Maputo at the annual staff retreat. Prior to that we spent a little less than two weeks in Thailand and, as I wrote earlier, it is so nice to be home after all that traveling. More...
January 25, 2006 | Congo Report
Rolland and Surpresa spent a few days doing conferences in Bukavu, and from the hunger that they saw, they knew that Iris had to go back. Rolland said to us, "It was the hungriest place I have ever seen." More...
December 20, 2005 | Big News!
Well, we have some news. As we were traveling back through Tanzania, Musy and I swung by a private clinic with our team member who needed to get a check up. While we were waiting for her, we decided to give Musy a pregnancy test. More...
December 10, 2005 | A Lot of Traveling
We finished our Goma conference on Sunday. It was great to bring all the Iris churches from surrounding areas in for a three day conference. God showed up, and we saw many people touched. We preached the Gospel and encouraged our brothers and sisters in the Lord. It was a powerful time and a huge encouragement to everyone attending. More...
November 26, 2005 | The Trip to Congo
I can have all the time in the world and still put off packing until the last minute. It was the same thing as we were rushing around our house, thirty minutes before our time of departure. As we were driving off for the airport, Musy and I just looked at each other and quickly prayed that we packed all the right things. That was it; we were on our way to Tanzania for the night with our good friends, Cassandra and Herbert. More...
November 1, 2005 | Outreach to Tanzania
I just wanted to thank everyone who responded to our last newsletter (see below). You are keeping our fires fed with all of your encouraging words. Thank you everyone that has sowed into our Congo trip. Earlier today I thought we would not have enough to purchase our tickets, and then the good news came in. More...
October 18, 2005 | Update
Well, we needed more fansĀ And that was all it took; I was off to Nampula, a nice five-hour drive south with my friend, Herb. As we get closer to summer it is getting hotter and hotter. Today I left my set of keys in my living room. On my keychain is a little thermometer (thanks Tom M.); it was reading just a hair under 100 degrees. It is getting hotter as each day passes and we are loving it. It is funny how our bodies are adapting to life here; we would have never thought that 90 would be a nice cool shade. More...
September 15, 2005 | Back in Mozambique
It is great to be back here in our beloved Mozambique. It has been a busy week, and it looks like it is not going to slow down. Musy and I arrived from our two day flight and went directly to the car dealer. Please don’t confuse an American Car dealership with a Mozambiqan dealership. In the USA, we have the privilege of our cars and trucks being made in our country, or, if we want an imported vehicle, there is no problem. Here, 100% of the vehicles are imported into the country. More...
September 11, 2005 | Update from Musy
This is Musy. We have some GOOD NEWS!!! After 18 months, we finally have the INS approval. Praise God! One thing I can tell you: patience was developed. It got a little challenging a few times, but God had His hands on it, even though we lost awareness of it often. But we got it! More...
July 21, 2005 | Pemba Report
What can I say? I have been all over the world in the past five years. I have had the privilege of seeing great moves of God in Paraguay, Brazil, Thailand, Colombia and the list goes on. I can honestly say I have never seen anything like what I am seeing here in Mozambique. Before I go into what is going on in Musy's and my life, I wanted to thank everyone that has come behind us in getting us here. You have truly blessed our lives, and we will never be the same because of it. We will take everything that we are going to receive here and take it all over the world. More...
April 4, 2005 | Hello Everyone!
Well we have a lot of catching up to do. For starters Musy and I are doing great. Today we are taking a long anticipated break and doing absolutely nothing this weekend. We both just came off of a few weeks of travel and are happy to have some down time with each other. More...
