(Our Strategy…)

  1. Plant a church… every 5 kilometers.

Iris Ministries, under the leadership of Dr. Heidi Baker, has seen unprecedented church growth since coming to Africa in 1995. Having started with one, our simple strategy of planting a church every 5 kilometers has exploded into a network of approximately 7,000 churches spanning across the African Continent. Today Iris Pastors plant churches with an average congregation size of 100 people at an approximate rate of 10 churches per week with an average of 1,300 new Pastors being ordained through our five Iris Bible Colleges per year.
  2. Birth a children’s center… for parent-less children.

As for Iris’s Children’s Centers, we have experienced multiplicative growth - 500 to 5,000 children in our full-time care within a few years’ time. Therefore, with every church plant, a children’s center will also be birthed to take in a maximum of 12 children. This initiative combined with the ever increasing number of churches and the wells that will be dug for sustainability is crucial to the “one million children” vision Heidi received in 2005.
  3. Dig a well… to bring life and sustain it.

Geographically the people are without water unless a well is dug - practically entire villages suffer economically, socially and politically without it. A village well relieves women from the time consuming tasks of seeking and gathering to pursue education, start simple enterprises and plant crops that will supply food year round. In a third world nation where HIV/AIDS is commonplace, water is essential for sanitation, strengthening one’s immune system, and preventing the spread of diseases. An accessible & abundant source of water even spells peace for a people who might otherwise engage in civil wars during scarcity.

Our faith is one of passion & compassion. Our passion for Jesus translates into compassion for our neighbor and at the well, love is tangible, practical and in action.
